
Eugene Lee
Artistic Director
Maestro Eugene Lee is an internationally active conductor, educator, and cultural leader whose artistic career spans North America, Europe, and Asia. He is widely recognized for his dynamic conducting style, disciplined musicianship, and broad artistic vision, establishing a strong reputation as a symphonic conductor and advocate for music education.
He holds a Master of Music in Orchestral Conducting from Georgia State University, where he received academic honors for outstanding graduate achievement. He further pursued advanced studies in composition, piano, and orchestral conducting across Europe, Korea, and Russia, shaping a diverse and internationally informed artistic profile.
His international recognition includes First Prize at the MPICW International Conducting Competition and honors at the Nan-pa Music Festival in Korea. He has been formally recognized through the Resolution by the Georgia House of Representatives in USA for his contributions to arts education and cultural development in the State of Georgia.
In the United States, he served for over a decade as Principal Conductor of the orchestras at Morehouse College and Spelman College, where he played a key role in advancing collegiate orchestral training and performance standards in Atlanta.
Maestro Lee has appeared with numerous orchestras worldwide, including the Kiev National Orchestra, Kharkiv Philharmonic, Ploiești Philharmonic, and Zabrze Philharmonic, with performances across major cultural centers in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, including Egypt, Japan, and Israel. He was also invited to conduct Verdi’s La Traviata at the Constanța Opera House in Romania as part of the composer’s bicentennial celebration.
Since 2000, Maestro Lee has served as Music Director and Conductor of the New Atlanta Philharmonic, leading its transformation into a multi-dimensional professional performing arts institution. In 2001, he founded the Atlanta Sinfonia as a chamber orchestra, and the New Atlanta Youth Orchestra, mentoring more than 1,000 young musicians and contributing significantly to arts education and youth development in the region.
Beyond the podium, he is active as a composer, educator, adjudicator, and media contributor, collaborating with internationally acclaimed artists across disciplines. His work reflects a consistent commitment to artistic excellence, cross-cultural exchange, and community engagement through music.
